Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who were pathologically diagnosed with intestinal metaplasia were consecutively enrolled between Jun. 2006 and Dec. 2013 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) initial diagnosed as gastric cancer; (2) with gastric or duodenal ulcers; (3) taking non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs); (4) history of undergone gastric surgery; (5) refusing repeated endoscopy follow-up. Patients who did not accomplish the prevention trial in one year or withdrew consent for long-term surveillance were also excluded from the study.
