Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: These people were experiencing their first psychotic episode of schizophrenia diagnosed in accordance with criteria established in DSM-V and had not previously received any antipsychotic drug treatment. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) total score = 60. Aged 18-65 years agreed to enroll in the trial and signed an informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any other psychiatric disorder other than schizophrenia (according to DSM-V); history of any significant substance abuse met DSM-V criteria, including addiction to cocaine or alcohol; a significant risk of committing suicide based on history or mental status exam; pregnant or lactating patients; specific systemic diseases; or other medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension; clinically significant abnormal laboratory test results, vital sign, or electrocardiogram findings.
