Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Inclusion criteria for chronic pancreatitis: CP was included on the bases of morphological and pathological diagnostic criteria. 2. Inclusion criteria for diabetes mellitus secondary to chronic pancreatitis: Diabetes mellitus secondary to chronic pancreatitis was included if exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (faecalelastase-1 levels <200 mg/g) and pathologic imaging results were present in the absence of diabetes-associated antibodies. 3. Inclusion criteria for type 2 diabetes mellitus: Type 2 diabetes mellitus in accordance with the criteria of the American Diabetes Association was included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for chronic pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis associated diabetes mellitus: 1. presence of type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus or ketosis before onset of chronic pancreatitis; 2. any other concurrent pancreatic disease; 3. beyond the age range of 18 to 65 years old; 4. the pregnant; 5. unwilling to be recruited; Exclusion criteria for type 2 diabetes mellitus: 1. presence of type 1 diabetes mellitus associated autoimmune markers; 2. any other concurrent pancreatic disease; 3. beyond the age range of 18 to 65 years old; 4. the pregnant; 5. unwilling to be recruited.
