Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Clinical samples from patients diagnosed to have PD peritonitis were prospectively evaluated. Diagnostic criteria were based on International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) guidelines of symptoms (one or more of abdominal pain, fever or cloudy dialysate) and microscopy of PD effluent (showing >100 wbc/mm3 of which >50% were neutrophils). Cases with a predominant eosinophilia or monocytosis on fluid leucocyte differential were excluded from the study. Gram stain and culture was performed in all cases. Effluent was obtained from Continuous Ambulatory PD (CAPD) and Automated PD (APD) patients after a minimum of a 2-hour dwell.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Blood culture or secretion culture positive; Liquor Dialysis intraperitoneus culture negative; in the former hospital were anti infection cases.
