Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 15 newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients were selected and 15 healthy subjects were selected as controls.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Obese (BMI more than 30 kg/m2) subjects, smokers, malignant neoplasms or liver diseases, renal failure(serum creatinine more than at least 176umol/L), or endocrinological disease other than diabetes mellitus were also excluded from the study. In addition, no patient was taking any drugs, such as thyroxine, oestrogen supplements, diuretics, antihypertensive drugs or ß-blockers or lipid-lowering drugs.
