Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria of this study is patients older than 40 years of age, scheduled for elective resection of pulmonary bullae.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if they were diagnosed as cancer, had mechanical ventilation within the 2 weeks before surgery, had a body-mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher, had a history of respiratory failure or sepsis within the 2 weeks before surgery.
