Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) elder than 55 years old;(2) Patients with recently symptomatic ICA stenosis of >50% or asymptomatic ICA stenosis of >70%, measured according to the North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial( NASCET) criteria or its noninvasive equivalent;(3) Who were diagnosed as MCI.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) evidence of other significant stenosis (>50%) in the major arteries of the head or neck; (2) evidence of a acute cerebral infarction need Emergency thrombolysis and (or) emergency stent placement; (3) a history of previous subarachnoid or cerebral hemorrhage; (4) a concomitant neurologic disorder potentially affecting cognitive function (e.g., severe Parkinson disease); (5) being unable to comply with the study assessment; (6) enduring mental illness, or the score of Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS)>17; (7) moving away or declining to participate.
