Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Histologically proven gastric adenocarcinoma and curative resection is expected to be achievable by distal or total gastrectomy; 2. Clinical stage of T2-T4a, N0-N3, and M0 according to TNM classification of the UICC(the 7th edition); 3. Aged 20–80 years; 4. No history of gastrointestinal surgery; 5. No prior treatment of chemotherapy or radiation therapy; 6. Sufficient organ function; 7. Provided written informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Palliative resection because of other organ involvement(T4b) and distant metastasis(M0); 2. Operation other than distal or total gastrectomy such as proximal gastrectomy, wedge resection and procedures with combined resection of another organ; 3. Synchronous or metachronous (within 5 years) malignancies other than carcinoma in situ; 4. Urgent or emergent procedures; 5. Infectious disease requiring systemic therapy; 6. Women during pregnancy or breast-feeding; 7. Severe mental disease or drug abuse; 8. Uncontrollable hypertension, unstable angina pectoris or history of myocardial infarction within 6 months; 9. Severe respiratory disease requiring continuous oxygen therapy.
