18 Years to 75 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) histologically confirmed rectal adenocarcinoma; 2) clinical classification of T3–T4 or positive regional lymph nodes; 3) tumor located within 12 cm of the anal verge; 4) no evidence of metastases; 5) no prior chemotherapy or radiation therapy to the pelvis; 6) Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG) 0–1 performance score; 7) adequate hematological, heart, liver and renal functions (platelet count > 100,000/L, white blood cell count > 4000/L, granulocyte count > 1500/L, hemoglobin level > 10.0 mg/dL; serum creatinine concentration < 2.0 mg/dL serum bilirubin level < 2.0 mg/dL).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) clinical obstruction requiring an emergency temporary diverting ostomy; 2) recurrent tumor; 3) severe comorbidities; 4) distant metastasis.
