Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria included those patients under general anesthesia with CBD stones who had dilated CBD (diameter > 8mm).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: The study excluded patients who had: 1. a CBD diameter smaller than 8 mm; 2. multiple intrahepatic stones; 3. suspected biliary tumor; 4. the presence of severe inflammation (severe acute necrotizing pancreatitis, acute cholangitis); 5. a history of hapatobiliary surgery; 6. a previous ERCP, as well as 7. American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) class 4 and 5 disease.
