Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The criteria of diagnosis of type 2 diabetes recommended by WHO in 1999 were adopted, newly diagnosed T2DM subjects with fasting plasma glucose levels more than 7.0 mmol/L and 2h OGTT glucose levels more than 11.1 mmol/L would be included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: T2DM subjects who were treated with oral hypoglycemic/hypoglycemic agents were excluded to avoid the possible confounding effects of medications. T1DM, individuals with gestational diabetes, active hepatitis/liver cirrhosis, chronic renal failure on hemodialysis, congestive heart failure or other known major disease were precluded from the study.
