40 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Grade I to II essential hypertension patients were on nifedipine treatment and stable on this treatment beforethey were randomized to vitamin D;Written informed consent for participation in the study was obtained from all participants.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria were as follows: patients with grade III hypertension, chronic renal failure, chronic liver disease, diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, systemic infection, inflammatory diseases, trauma, bone disorders, and/or thyroid disorders. Patients were also excluded if they were taking vitamin D3 tablets, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, diuretics or beta-blockers.
