Eligibility

All
Age
36 Years to 72 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Male and female aged 36 to 72 years old; 2. eyes without significant media opacities that precluded fundus examination or imaging, and with OCT image quality of 6 or more; 3. OCT retinal thickness at least of 300um in the central subfield

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with macular edema from other causes, including any history of uveitis, retinal vein occlusion; 2. Any type of previous macular treatment (macular laser photocoagulation, vitrectomy, intraviteral steroids and/or antiangiogenic drugs); 3. Any erroneous values using the automated retinal thickness software algorithm if the incorrect retinal surfaces were chosen; 4. Eyes with compact hard exudates in central 500um were also excluded. Hard exudates appeared on OCT as highly reflective objects that shadowed the layers beneath it.
