Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Schizophrenic hospitalized patients; 2. not taking anti psychotic drugs one months before admission; 3. PANSS score more than 70 points, of which the positive symptoms scale score of two more than 4 points; 4. Aged from 18 to 45 years, the gender is not limited; 5. Patients themselves and their families signed informed consent; 6. To be able to complete the required assessment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Relevant medical illness (renal, hepatic, or cardiac) in the opinion of the investigators; 2. Prior history of intolerance to sodium nitroprusside; 3. Presence of a seizure disorder, not including clozapine-induced seizures; 4. Diagnosis of substance abuse (except nicotine or caffeine) or dependence within the last 3 months according to DSM-IV criteria; 5. Pregnant or breastfeeding; 6. Used illicit substances or alcohol in the past 3 months; 7. History of any major medical illness.
