Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for ESRF patients were patients who received regular haemodialysis treatment at the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital, older than 18 years, and body mass index less than 40 kg/m2. Inclusion criteria for healthy subjects were any subjects with American Society of Anaesthesiologist physicial status of I and over 18 years of age, with body mass index less than 40 kg/m2.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for both groups included diabetes, a history of upper gastrointestinal disease, and previous surgical procedures on the esophagus, stomach, or upper abdomen surgery, body mass index > 40 kg/m2.
