Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: the patients experienced an episode of acute stroke and were hospitalized within 72 h after disease onset. The patients were randomly selected from the First, Second, and Third Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College, Pingyang People's Hospital, and Yueqing People's Hospital between March 2009 and March 2010. Cerebral infarction, identified by cranial CT and MRI scannig.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: cerebral infarction induced by other determined or unknown causes were excluded. Patients with transient ischemic attack, tumor, subarachnoid hemorrhage, or cerebral venus thrombosis, or could not provide complete pathological indexes, were excluded from this study.
