18 Years to 50 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) aged 18–50; (2) medication free for at least 4 weeks if they had been taking SSRIs and for 2 weeks for all other psychoactive substances; (3) meet DSM-IV criteria for GAD as determined by the structured clinical interview (SCID); (4) the scores of the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HDRS-17items) =14; (5) Written informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) head trauma leading to loss of consciousness; (2) DSM-IV substance abuse or substance dependence disorder; (3) contraindication to magnetic resonance (MR) scanning; (4) Use of any medication which is known to be contraindicated with Venlafaxine XR; (5) WAIS(IQ)< 85; (6) Known history of serious or unstable medical illness, including cardiovascular, hepatic, renal, respiratory, endocrine, neurologic or hematological disease; (7) History of multiple adverse drug reactions; (8) Pregnancy and Breastfeeding; (9) Subjects who, in the opinion of the investigator, are unable and/or unlikely to comprehend and follow the study procedures and instructions.
