18 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Ages 18 to 70 years; 2. American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status of I or II; 3. Undergone abdominal surgery requiring general anesthesia; 4. Agreed to accept intravenous patient controlled analgesia (IV-PCA) with morphine for 72 hrs after the end of the operation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. patients not receiving morphine after surgery; 2. patients on chronic pain medication; 3. patients with a history of a chronic pain syndrome; 4. patients with a body mass index of 32 kg/m2 or greater; 5. patients with significant systemic disease.
