Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Women who delivered before 37 completed weeks' gestation during August, 2009 and July, 2010 in five Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Haidian District, Tongzhou District,Changping District, Daxing District and Shunyi District. Preterm delivery cases were identified by daily monitoring of all new deliveries at postpartum wards of participating hospitals.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. induced abortion due to fetal malformations, intrauterine fetal death and unintentional pregnancy; 2. refusal to participate in the study.
