Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Complete diagnostic criteria for acute kidney injury is that an abrupt (within 48 hours) reduction in kidney function is currently defined as an absolute increase in serum creatinine of more than or equal to 0.3mg/dl (>=26.4 umol/l).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) patients were younger than 18 years; (2) patients had chronic dialysis within the past month or were on dialysis at ICU admission; (3) patients had a functioning kidney transplant; (4) patients whose creatinine value of the first 2 day in ICUs was unavailable; (5) patients with incomplete data. To avoid bias, we only introduced the initial ICU admission for patients who were readmitted to the ICU during our study period.
