Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) Be at least 18 years of age. No pregnant or lactating female; 2) Have non-molar maxillary teeth (15-25) which is already scheduled for extraction and subsequent implant placement; If a subject has multiple teeth to be extracted, only one tooth will be included in the study. 3) No contraindication for implant placement. No systemic diseases. Not taking drugs in?uencing bone metabolism; 4) No evidence of acute periodontal infection: e.g., abscess, suppuration, severe swelling and/or spontaneous bleeding; 5) Non-smoker or smoke less than 10 cigarettes per day.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Teeth with advanced marginal bone loss (radiographic bone level=4 mm from the cemento-enamel junction) and/or presented with a buccal dehiscence defect of =2 mm (determined following tooth removal); 2) Teeth requiring flap reflection for extraction, e.g. deep subgingival caries or fractures; 3) Individuals opposed to having porcine derived materials placed in their mouth due to any personal considerations such as religious reasons.
