Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Part One: 1) color ectal cancer resection; 2) aged at least 18 years old; 3) surgery time is about 2-4 hours; 4) anesthesia time is about 2.5-4.5 hours; 5) syndrome type of qi stagnation and deficiency; 6) informed consent. Part Two: 1) patients underwent gynecologic surgery; 2) Aged from 40 to 70 years old; 3) The duration of operation is with 2 to 4 hours; 4) The anesthesia time is within 2.5 to 4.5 hours; 5) The TCM syndrome is identified as qi stagnation fu-organ stuff; 6) Willing to sign an informed consent document.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: had a history of exploratory laparotomy, laparoscopic surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal radiation, or substance abuse; if they had psychological or social conditions that might interfere with their participation in the study; if they were allergic to mint; or if they required intensive care more than 24 hours postoperatively or a nasogastric tube beyond the firstpostoperative morning.
