18 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adult patients older than 18 years (and=2 hours; 5. With high or intermediate risk for postoperative pulmonary complications following abdominal surgery; 6. Informed consent obtained.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Mechanical ventilation within the last 30 days before surgery; 2. Body mass index >=30 kg/m2; 3. Severe respiratory disease (pneumonia, history of previous severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or acute exacerbations of COPD), acute lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome; 4. Previous lung surgery; 5. Severe cardiac disease (New York Heart Association class III or IV, or acute coronary syndrome, or persistent ventricular tachyarrhythmias); 6. Shock; 7. Progressive neuromuscular illness; 8. Pregnancy; 9. Participate in other clinical trials within the last 30 days before surgery.
