Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. female; 2. participants who fulfilled the Rome III criteria for IBS; 3. report>=6 months of abdominal pain; 4. abdominal pain rating>=30 on a 100-point VAS scale for at least one week prior to enrolment; 5. between 18 and 50 years old.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. bowel resections (except appendectomy) or multiple abdominal operations; 2. treatment with tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors; 3. treatment with gastrointestinal prokinetics, anticholinergics, antispasmodics or analgesics in the last 14 d; 4. chronic pain apart from IBS-depecially fibromyalgia; 5. lactose intolerance; 6. treatment with any investigational drug during the preceding 30 days; 7. pregnant or child-bearing potential without effective contraception; 8. a clinical diagnosis of an anxiety disorder or major depressive episod; 9. conditions or diseases associated with altered pain perception (i.e., neurological or psychiatric disorders, diabetes, or cardiovascular disorders); 10. hemorrhagic tendency(i.e.,leukemia or thrombocytopenia); metal implants.
