Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: This prospective, single center, placebo-controlled study was conducted from July to November 2014, at the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Male or female children, school age, ASA levels 1-2, who were expected to undergo surgery lasting 0.5 to 2 hours employing both general and caudal anesthesia were included in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with concomitant cardiopulmonary disease, emergency surgery, fever, endocrine system disease, severe trauma, or burn injuries were excluded.
