Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients who fulfill the following conditions will be included: 1) diagnosed by pathology and scheduled for laparotomy which including gastric cancer surgery, colon resection, colorectal cancer resection etc; 2) preoperative oral normal diets; 3) appeared PGID and symptom duration longer than 72h, and the symptoms include the follow any one or more: a) not restored anal exhaust; b) decompression drainage lasting more than 300ml/d; c) continuous hiccups; and d) bowel sounds less than 4 times/min or more than 8 times/min; 4) aged between 18 and 75 years old who has normal communication ability, be able to understand and cooperate to complete the questionnaire; 5) undergoing general anesthesia; 6) no experience with acupuncture therapies; and 7) signed an informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Participants that meet any of the following criteria will be excluded: 1) serious postoperative complications which include intra-abdominal hemorrhage or gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal fistula, intra-abdominal infection, mechanical obstruction etc; 2) heart, liver or kidney damage; 3) primary disease of blood system; 4) cognitive impairment; 5) aphasia; 6) mental disorder; 7) cardiac pacemaker; 8) use of analgesia pump more than three days or use of analgesics more than six times after surgery three days; 9) upper and lower extremities deformities, which may affect the selected points; 10) acupuncture point local or nearby skin infections or scar; 11) cannot normally communicate; 12) refusal to accept acupuncture treatment; 13) menstruating phase of the menstrual cycle; and 14) participated in other clinical trials.
