Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for T2DM patients: 1. Diagnostic criteria for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus according to WHO (1999); 2. Aged=40 years old; 3. Patients need to live in Suzhou for more than or equal to 5 years; 4. No use of hormones,diuretics,and other drugs that affect metabolism; 5. Gastrointestinal function is normal. Inclusion criteria for healthy subjects: 1. No history of diabetes mellitus (normal fasting plasma glucose) and other metabolic diseases; 2. Aged=40 years old; 3. Healthy subjects need to live in Suzhou for more than or equal to 5 years; 4. Gastrointestinal function is normal; 5. No other systemic diseases. On the basic of the selenium test,selenium decifient T2DM patients are selected to accept the intervention.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria for T2DM patients and for healthy subjects are the same. 1. Allergic to corn flour; 2. There are serious diseases such as:heart,liver,kidney,brain,tumor,etc,or Diabetes Mellitus complicated with ketoacidosis, hyperglycemia hypertonic coma and other serious complications of diabetes; 3. Suffering from acute inflammatory or infectious diseases in recent one month; 4. Mental illness or unable to communicate with others; 5. In the past three months, people have selenium supplemention experience as well as take other nutritional supplements, health care products, etc.; 6. Exposure to occupational history related to metal elements.
