Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All Chinses-speaking inpatients aged 18–75 years undergoing colonoscopy who had provided written informed consent will be eligible for participation in the study. ;Inclusion criteria: All Chinses-speaking inpatients aged 18–75 years undergoing colonoscopy who had provided written informed consent will be eligible for participation in the study. ;Inclusion criteria: All Chinses-speaking inpatients aged 18–75 years undergoing colonoscopy who had provided written informed consent will be eligible for participation in the study. ;Inclusion criteria: All Chinses-speaking inpatients aged 18–75 years undergoing colonoscopy who had provided written informed consent will be eligible for participation in the study. ;Inclusion criteria: All Chinses-speaking inpatients aged 18–75 years undergoing colonoscopy who had provided written informed consent will be eligible for participation in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included outpatients status,known allergy to PEG,unable to give informed consent, pregnant or lactating women, dysphagia, chronic renal disease (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min), severe congestive heart failure (New York Heart Association class III or IV),dehydration, history of severe constipation (< 1 bowel movement every 3 d), and history of inflammatory bowel disease, history of colorectal surgery, toxic colitis or megacolon,severe colonic stricture or obstructing tumour, known significant gastroparesis, disturbance of electrolytes, haemodynamically unstable, known or suspected bowel obstruction or perforation. Patients who had insufficient intellectual capacity to understand the booklet will be excluded.
