Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes, according to WHO diagnostic criteria (1999), who had not received previous antihyperglycaemic therapy and lipid lowering agents, were enrolled from our hospital between May, 2017, and May, 2018. The patients, aged 18-70 years, had levels of BMI great than or equal to 24kg/m2, and the HbA1C is between 7% and 9%.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were type 1 diabetes, gestational diabetes, recent acute illness, or concomitant chronic disease, including kidney, liver, and cardiovascular disease. Type 2 diabetic patients who were treated with oral hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and/or antihypertensive agents were also excluded to avoid the possible confounding effects of medications
