Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. aged 65 years or more; 2. according with the consensus for sarcopenia diagnosis by Asia working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS): low muscle mass plus low muscle strength and/or low physical performance; 3. in accordance with obesity defined by Baumgartner et al percentage of body fat greater than the 60th percentile of the study reference group. The cutoff values of obesity are 26.3% in men and 33.2% in women in reference to the previous results; 4. volunteer to sign informed consent; 5. with stable chronic disease state.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. taking nutritional supplements regularly or taking part in other forms of clinical trials within the past 3 months; 2. suffering from acute infection or acute cerebral organic diseases in recent 6 months; 3. equipped with a pacemaker; 4. suffering from serious heart disease, severe hemodynamic instability, severe bradycardia and tachycardia at rest; 5. suffering from renal failure (creatinine clearance rate<=60ml/min/1.73m2); 6. severe cognitive impairment (mini-mental state examination, MMSE<=17) or extremity disability, unable to complete gait speed and grip strength measurement; 7. have difficulty in swallowing or oral intake; 8. recently received a major surgery or extremity surgery, unsuitable to accept exercise intervention; 9. unsuitable to take part in the study judged by clinicians due to medical consideration.
