Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. nonlaparoscopic parental living related liver transplantation for biliary atresia; 2. age between 28 days and 12 months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. patients with any major respiratory complications on a date before their operation, history of mechanical ventilation two weeks preceding surgery, any previous lung surgery; 2. congenital respiratory or thoracic deformity; 3. severe cardiac disease defined as New York Heart Association class III or IV or pulmonary hypertension, 4. neuromuscular disease; 5. persistent hemodynamic instability.
