Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: This study enrolled outpatient males and females 18-70 years-old who had stage 2 systolic hypertension (systolic BP >= 160mmHg and/or diastolic BP >=100mmHg).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if who pregnant, myocardiol infarction, chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, Type 1 diabetes mellitus(DM) or uncontrolled type 2 DM (Glucose > 11mmol/L) or refused to undergo follow-up visits. Other key exclusion criteria were systolic BP above 200 mmHg or diastolic BP above 110 mmHg at the time of enrollment, secondary hypertension, or resistant hypertension.
