Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. at least 18 years old with body mass index >=18.5 kg/m2; 2. Disorders of consciousness (vegetative state or a minimally conscious state), as indicated by a DRS score greater than 11, and an inability both to follow commands consistently and to engage in functional communication, as assessed by the score on the Coma Recovery Scale–Revised (CRS-R).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Have diabetes,gastrointestinal disease, liver or kidney disfunction; 2. have endocrine disease: thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid gland or adrenal lesions; 3. pregnancy or lactation women; 4. using hormones to affect metabolism.
