Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Written informed consent was obtained from all patients; 2. Patients undergone primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty for OA or RA.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. allergy or intolerance to one of the study drugs; 2; epilepsy; 3. language difficulty, mental illness, dementia; 4. preexisting neuropathy on the operative limb; 5. alcoholism, chronic opioid use (defined as daily or almost daily use of opioids for longer than 3 months); 6. body mass index greater than 35 or smaller than 20; 7. aged younger than 18 or older than 80 years; 8. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) class 4 or 5.
