Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Cirrhosis diagnosed by biopsy or at least two imaging methods(ultrasound, CT or MRI); 2) Moderate to severe esophageal gastric varices confirmed by gastroscopy with at least one episode of bleeding; 3) Aged between 60 to 80 years or with Child-Pugh grade of B/C (score<14); 4) Patients who sign the informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) with Child-Pugh grade C(score>14); 2) TIPS recanalization; 3) Total bilirubin>85.8umol/L; 4) hepatocellular carcinoma or other malignancies; with severe critical organ failure or other diseases which can affect the survival rate; 5) refractory ascites or hepatorenal syndrome; 6) with cavernous transformation of the portal vein or diffuse intravascular thrombosis in the portal vein system; 7) liver transplantation candidates.
