Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) patients with malocclusion who visited orthodontic department aged from 12 to 20 years; 2) suffered from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) symptoms (clicking, pain, limitation in mouth opening, et al.); 3) patients with small condylars showed by OPG; Patient who met 1) and 2) or 1) and 3) were suggested take TMJ MRI examination, and was enrolled when the disc displacement was confirmed by MRI.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) patients who had history of congenital or developmental diseases, systematic disorders, infection, injuries to the jaws, or other diseases causing condlyar resorptioin; 2) patients who had had joint surgery or orthodontic (orthognathic) treatment; 3) patients with phycological problems; 4) females in pregnancy or lactation; 5) patients who refused to cooperate the treatment.
