Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All periodontal examination was processed at the Department of Periodontics, School of Stomatology, China Medical university. According to inclusive and exclusive criteria, all patients were supposed to be (1) systemically healthy; (2) had not received any initial or surgical periodontal treatment for 12 months; (3) non antibiotics use for 4 week prior to the start of the study; (4) only chronic periodontitis patients can be included; (5) drug-induced, idiopathic, aggressive and other kind of periodontal disease would not be counted in; (6) all patients must have 6 deep sites (probe depth 5-9mm) respectively at left or right side of the mouth;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients with chronic diseases, smoking history in the past 6 years,drug-induced, idiopathic, aggressive and other kind of periodontal disease would not be counted in wearing orthodontic appliance or in duration of pregnancy and lactation were excluded.
