Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) patients aged 18 years or older; (2) patients with an acute cerebral ischemic or intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke were diagnosed according to computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scanning; (3) time within 48 h from stroke onset; (4) disturbance of consciousness on admission (defined as GCS score < 15).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients who suffered from subarachnoid hemorrhage; (2) Patients who had accepted other relevant treatment which may affect the effects of indicators in this study; (3) Patients with serious problems such as insufficiency of heart, liver, kidney or severe diabetes; (4) Patients with blood coagulation disorders; and (5) Patients who were pregnant or in breast-feeding period.
