Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All the eyes enrolled were with severe PDR that scored over 4 points for the complexity score according to the study of Castellarin et al in 2003

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Eyes with cornea or conjunctive dysfunction were excluded. Eyes were also excluded if with a history of uveitis, ocular hypertension, neovascular glaucoma, retinal detachment, Eales disease, optic neuropathy, retinal vascular occlusion, or gases leak into anterior chamber, or corneal distortion during surgery, or with previous trauma, intravitreal injection, retinal laser treatment, or vitrectomy.
