Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The study recruited all patients admitted to a 63-bed general ICU for more than 96 hours from January of 2016 to December of 2016 who were followed until ICU discharge. Eligible patients were 18 years or older, all patients were considered continuous sedation, analgesia, the duration time of sedation longer than 48h or more time.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included pregnancy or alcohol abuse, dialysis of all types, drug or dying state, Emergency operation or general anesthesia 24 hours prior to or planned after the start of study drug infusion, Liver insufficiency or HR less than 50 bpm, Systolic BP less than 90 mm Hg, Acute myocardial infarction, Second or third degree atrioventricular block, Glascow Coma Score (GCS) <13 on presentation at the emergency department and appearance of focal neurological signs, expected lifetime of less than 30 days.
