Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: After obtaining approval of the Hospital Ethics Committee at the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, 90 obstetric patients (American Society of Anesthesiologists [ASA] physical status I or II, age range 18 to 40 yr, gestational age >=37 weeks, and singleton pregnancy) scheduled for cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia with no prior medication history were enrolled in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Parturients with contraindications to regional anesthesia, hypersensitivity to amide local anesthetics or DEX, severe preeclampsia, hyperthyroidism, cardiopulmonary disease, and known history of alcohol or substance abuse were excluded from the study.
