Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Informed consents; (2) meeting the diagnosis criteria of non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation at the ning of the observation. AF was termed as non-paroxysmal when its episodes continued longer than 7 days, or required termination by cardioversion with anti-arrhythmic agents or electrical conversion. Non-paroxysmal AF included three subtypes, such as persistent AF, long-standing persistent AF permanent AF.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1)not meeting the inclusion criteria; (2) with congenital heart disease, mental illness or dementia; (3) with serious liver or kidney dysfunction; (4)undergoing implantation of artificial heart valve or having valve disease with expected surgery treatment in the coming 3 years; (5) with reversible causes of atrial fibrillation, such as heart surgery, pulmonary embolism untreated hyperthyroidism; (6) with the expected survival time lower than 1 year; (7) with other diseases except atrial fibrillation calling for long-term anticoagulation therapy; (8) enrolled in any clinical trials at present.
