Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients who were newly diagnosed as having acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) induced by SAP were recruited.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: previous bronchial and pulmonary diseases, recent hormone use, recent immunosuppressive therapy,and recent acupuncture treatment.
