Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The “686” Program enrollees; 2. Confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia according to the Chinese Classification of Mental Disorders (version 3) by the psychiatrists; 3. Residing in the Xiang-dialect area of Liuyang municipality.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. People currently rated as “fully functioning” (due to no clinical justification to force high-functioning people to take or remain adherent to their medications); 2. People planning to relocate in the coming two years (difficult to follow them up if they relocate).
