Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients admitted to participate ICUs during the study period are screened for eligibility. The inclusion criteria are as follows: an admission diagnosis of sepsis or septic shock.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.younger than 18 yrs old; 2.ICU length of stay (LOS) <24 hrs for routine postoperative surveillance.
