Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Diabetes as a representative of chronic inflammatory diseases: a)tested individuals should sign informed written consent; b)newly diagnosed diabetic patients with HbA1c values over 7.0%. Non-diabetic controls should be matched with age and sex; 2. Bacterial pneumonia as a representative of acute inflammatory diseases: 1) tested individuals should sign informed written consent; 2) newly diagnosed bacterial pneumonia. non-infection controls should be matched with age and sex.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Diabetes as a representative of chronic inflammatory diseases: those selected patients do not suffer from any infectious diseases. 2) Bacterial pneumonia as a representative of acute inflammatory diseases: those selected patiens do not suffer from any other infections and chronic inflammatory diseases., e.g. diabetes.
