Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: This study enrolled inpatients over the age of 20 as the subjects with pleural effusions, which remained undiagnosed after pleural fluid analysis by thoracentesis with or without closed pleural biopsy. The subjects could understand this study and sign the informed consent forms.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria is an inability to tolerate medical thoracoscopy under local anesthesia and conscious sedation, such as inadequate lung function parameters, uncontrolled bleeding tendency, and severe heart failure.
