Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Chronic hepatitis B: included a diagnosis of with persistent HBV infection more than one year. The patients should include the diagnosis of HBV DNA more than 104copies/mL, HBsAg and anti-HBc positive, anti-HBs negative and no history of antiviral treatment.Acute hepatitis B: patients with acute HBV infection completely recovered from the illness, exhibiting normalized serum transaminase levels and clearance of HBsAg and HBeAg from the serum within 6 months of the disease.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if they had other mixed causes of chronic liver disease such as hepatitis C, alcohol abuse or autoimmune liver disease, or if they had a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and hypersplenia.
