Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia as per ICD 11 classification by case records 2.Clinically stable for at least one month prior to participation in the study, with a Clinical Global Impression score of less than or equal to 3 and receiving outpatient treatment 3.Duration of illness greater than or equal to 2 years 4.Capacity to provide informed consent assessed using The University of California, San Diego Brief Assessment of Capacity to Consent 5.Ability to read and speak fluent English and or Tamil Inclusion criteria for mental health experts 1.Employed as a psychiatrist, psychologist or psychiatric social worker at SCARF or at other mental health institutions in Chennai 2.A minimum of 2 years of experience in treating individuals with schizophrenia and expertise in cognitive remediation 3.Ability to read and speak fluent English and or Tamil
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Persons reporting significant impairment in vision and or hearing that will affect their ability to experience the VR activities 2.History of comorbid substance use disorder in the past three months 3.Comorbid neurological conditions intellectual disability, or physical illnesses that can impede their ability to experience the VR scenarios,History of seizure, epilepsy 4.Participants reporting or under treatment for motion sickness, vertigo, nausea or vomiting triggered by vertigo, tinnitus and migraine headaches.
