Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age 30 to 80 years Hypertensive patients, Stage I and Stage II Hypertension Undergoing elective non cardiac surgery under general or neuraxial anesthesia American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status II and III

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients undergoing Emergency surgeries Patients with known cardiac disease or severe systemic illnesses like respiratory and neurological diseases Non ambulatory patients Patients with Severe Hypertension, NIBP more than 180/120 mmHg Pregnant patients

MeasureTime frame
To assess the correlation between arterial stiffness parameters measured using SphygmoCor XCEL and the incidence of post-induction hypotension in hypertensive patients scheduled for elective surgeries under general or neuraxial anaesthesia.Timepoint: To measure arterial stiffness preoperatively using SphygmoCor XCEL and then measuring vitals including blood pressure every 2 mins. till 30 mins. of induction.

MeasureTime frame
1.To determine the incidence of post-induction hypotension, that is , arterial hypotension occuring during the first 30 mins after anaesthesia induction. 2. To evaluate the need and amount of vasopressors used to correct hypotension. 3. To measure the perfusion index using the standard pulse oximeter.Timepoint: 1. To measure baseline vitals followed by measuring vitals at a 2 min interval till 30 mins post induction. 2. Everytime there is need for vasopressors, the amount will be evaluated. 3. Baseline perfusion index will be measured 30-45 mins before induction in preoperative rooms. Intraoperative values will be recorded every 10mins till 30mins of the induction.
